Are Medicinal Drugs Truly Safe?

Are Medicinal Drugs Safe For You and Your Family?

The truth is that even the so-called “safe” medicinal drugs aren’t totally harmless.  In an average twelve-month period, more than 1.5 million hospitalized people suffer from the side effects of the medicinal drugs and therapy they receive there.  Aspirin alone sends about 1,600 people to the hospital each year who die from gastric bleeding. Drug interaction also creates a serious problem.  Some individual medicinal drugs may be relatively benign, but taken together they can be deadly.  According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average American senior citizen is given more than fifteen prescriptions each year.  Sometimes, these come from doctors who aren’t aware of the other medications the patient may be taking, and that could lead to tragedy if the drugs cause a toxic reaction.

Good Health is a Process

“I don’t know who or what to believe! I heard that fat is bad for me, but then somebody tells me how good flax oil is for you . . . and yet it’s fat. Then I heard carbohydrates were bad for me and I should eat more protein, like the Atkins diet . . . and then the Atkins guy dies of a heart attack, and I find out that the high-protein diet makes you toxic. One doctor tells you this and another tells you that. It seems that when it comes to good health, nobody can seem to agree.”

The statistics support this truth: We are rich in “money, stuff, and things,” but we’re very poor in our health. Ouch.
