Chiropractic Care

What is Chiropractic Care? When Do You Need a Chiropractor?

“Chiropractic” comes from the Greek “cheiro” and “praktikos” meaning “done by hand.” Chiropractic healthcare is a branch of medicine based on the scientific fact that our nervous system controls or influences the function of every cell in our body. Interference to the nervous system, caused by misaligned vertebrae or pinched nerves, will affect how our nervous system functions within our bodies. The chiropractic model of health is centered on the philosophy that the human body, being knit as it is in a wonderful way, will heal itself given the right opportunity and circumstances. Doctors of Chiropractic promote the healing process by minimizing this nerve interference.

In many cases, chiropractic care is the safe and effective alternative to back surgery. The purpose of chiropractic care is to uncover your health conditions, not just to cover your symptoms—the absence of symptoms (pain) does not equal good health. Therefore our goal is to educate our patients about the natural solutions to common health problems. We give our patients the necessary tools to motivate them to take a more active and responsible role in restoring and maintaining their own health as well as the health and wellbeing of the people around them. Chiropractic care is much more than just reducing or eliminating pain. It is about learning, understanding and caring for your body in a way that will improve your quality of life.

What Is Treatment Like?

We help patients with a wide range of issues, from neck pain and back pain to sports and repetitive motion injuries. Our complete care approach places emphasis on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders that affect the muscle and skeletal systems, especially the spine. To accomplish this, we provide manual manipulation and therapy of the spine, joints, and soft tissues; plus education about proper exercise technique and health and lifestyle counseling.

Our treatment rooms are private and Dr Scott’s adjustment techniques are safe, gentle and customized to your body’s unique needs. Our patients vary in age and health from just a few months old to seniors with chronic conditions. Many of our patients begin experiencing relief after their very first treatment while others are able to achieve lasting healing after a few weeks.
